Joy Strube (she/her) is passionate about recognizing capacity and seeing communities through the lens of their strengths. She is a skilled facilitator with an outgoing and energetic personality. Rather than defining communities by what they lack and need, Joy advocates that people thrive when they are empowered to utilize and strengthen their existing assets. She believes in the power of team building and working together for collective impact. To Joy, active listening is the key to communicating true value and igniting change.
Joy pioneered Canby Foursquare Church’s community engagement department. She led teams to effect change and make community engagement part of the organizational life and culture at Canby Foursquare. Using her leadership development and project management background, she assembled effective teams to take ideas from vision to reality. She started and coordinated a medical and social services program, developed a school partnership to support students, staff and families and created structures for community engagement to continue beyond her time at the organization.
Joy recently graduated with her Master of Arts in Global Development and Justice from Multnomah University. During her program she focused on Asset Based Community Development strategies, Monitoring and Evaluation and Applied Research. Joy also earned a B.A. in Sociology from Seattle Pacific University.
