Transform the way we work together inside organizations and in the community to have the greatest impact.

We all sense that the world is in the midst of a great time of change and complexity, which affects our communities, our organizations, our teams and ourselves. Greater productivity, agility, effectiveness, understanding, achievement and success happens when we work through integral transformation.  Change and transformation tend to be overwhelming at times and can feel unmanageable.

It's not productive to think in terms that “leaders” can determine what change is needed and then get others to go along with them. When things are truly complex, no one person can fully understand the challenge and what change is needed. We need to co-create a desired future tapping into the inner wisdom that lives within the organization, community or system and the people within those structures. This approach requires a systemic perspective, an awareness of how complex systems behave, and willingness to stay in curiosity and inquiry rather than move quickly to a solution. It also fosters efficiency because it results in iterative outcomes that work.

We help you transform organizational cultures, communities and systems by helping you navigate change adaptively, embrace divergent viewpoints, and achieve internal alignment and coherence. We help you review and improve your organizational culture, foster healthy human relationships and communication, clarify roles and decision-making, support people and teams as they navigate change, and embed race and social equity in all that you do.

Collective Impact Social change is possible when many organizations, teams and individuals from across sectors attack a problem from different angles, coordinate their activities, and measure a consistent set of metrics. To be successful, such collective impact initiatives require robust communication and a third-party entity to coordinate the effort, convene gatherings, analyze and report metrics and outcomes, and champion the effort. The Athena Group is trained and experienced in helping communities achieve their goals as a collective impact initiative.

Social Capital In most of our engagements we assess social capital. Social Capital consists of trust (having to do with an individual’s willingness to take a risk or be vulnerable – or simply participate – based on a belief in other’s trustworthiness), norms (related to values), and networks (the flow of knowledge and information, and the number and quality of social connections). The Athena Group’s Social Capital Assessment tool was designed to enable an organization to survey and assess their baseline and ongoing levels of trust and social capital.
