Steve is an interdependent consultant who works with leaders, organizations, and communities seeking to renew their essential conversation about change and leadership. His impact is to increase leadership capacity wherever he is invited. Leadership is about taking wise action in powerful times. The capacity to take wise action depends on how well an organization can nurture mutual learning, develop systems intelligence, and discern adaptive challenges. Steve is a graduate of the Organization Systems Renewal program at Seattle University.

Steve teaches, consults, advises, and writes. He teaches in the graduate (M.A.) Leadership Studies program at St. Mary’s College of California. He designs and teaches interactive workshops about systems intelligence, leadership, and mutual learning for teams. He consults with community groups and organizations in several sectors. Steve advises leaders and leadership teams regarding their own development and organizational change.

He writes The Conversation is the Relationship, a blog about his work and learning. Recent clients include the King County Library System, Kaiser Permanente, Finnriver Farm & Cidery, PULSE NW & SW (systems change in higher education), South Sound Parent to Parent, Seattle Housing Authority, Friendly Water for the World, Washington State Department of Financial Institutions, and the Washington State Charter School Commission. Steve served on the GRuB (Garden Raised Bounty, Olympia) Board of Directors for 10 years. He recently joined the team of hosts convening “A Human Workplace” gatherings.
