The Athena Group partnered with Public Health-Seattle King County to undertake a comprehensive, equity-centered strategic planning process. A central element of this work was an Engagement and Analysis Plan, which defines a comprehensive engagement strategy that encourages and supports broad involvement across the entire PHSKC community (staff, public health partners, and community-based organizations) and multimodal options of engagement to address the diverse participant needs at each stage of the process. Aligned with PHSKC’s commitment to centering equity and becoming an anti-racist organization, the engagement efforts were guided by decolonizing principles for settler colonial institutions doing research in indigenous communities.
