Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI)
The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) as an evaluative instrument serves a dual purpose: it will facilitate an organizational/leadership assessment to ascertain your organization’s current position on the Intercultural Development Continuum (IDC) and act as a strategic pivot point for advancing along that continuum.
Grounded in Cross-Culturally Validated Theory of Intercultural Competence
The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) is a developmental assessment tool that uses a 50-item online questionnaire, taking just 15–20 minutes to complete. Widely utilized across various sectors—corporate, non-profit, and educational—by thousands of Qualified Administrators in over 45 countries, the IDI has informed numerous studies and publications.
Generates Custom Group and Individual Profile Reports
The IDI provides profiles that illustrate an individual’s and a group's intercultural competence, assessing their ability to adapt to cultural differences. When individual debriefs are part of the assessment, each participant collaborates with a Qualified Administrator (QA) who guides them through their personalized Intercultural Development Plan (IDP). This tailored plan offers actionable strategies for enhancing intercultural skills, providing leaders with the insights and tools needed to address challenges and successfully achieve their intercultural growth objectives.
Individualized Intercultural Development Plan (IDP)
Developed by Dr. Hammer, the IDP offers customized action plans based on individual IDI profiles, helping individuals gain insight into their intercultural challenges, clarity on their goals, and targeted learning to enhance their intercultural competence.
Applies IDI Results to Goal Achievement
The IDI serves as the foundation for IDI Guided Development, ensuring that training and development efforts are aligned with profile results, fostering effective intercultural growth.
A Valid and Reliable Assessment
The IDI has undergone rigorous psychometric testing, confirming its validity and reliability across diverse cultural groups. Its design ensures it remains free from cultural bias and social desirability effects, making it a trustworthy tool for both corporate and educational contexts.
